The Doko is a traditional Nepalese basket made out of Bamboo. It is used to transport or carry goods from one place to another. It holds immense value for the Nepalese people. We have seen women in the Northeast sometimes carrying their children in a Doko.
On the other hand, the peacock is remarkably embodied in all art forms - from monuments to textiles in Rajasthan. The magnificent dance of the peacock represents the multicultural world we belong to. Moreover, the Doko is personal to me - as it represents the two cultures and ethnicity I've grown up with. One I embrace - the place I grew up in Mirik, Darjeeling and the other I behold- my ancestral village in Rajasthan! These two cultures perfectly blend me into the woman I am today. It makes me who I am :)
